What does FPSO stand for? FPSO refers to Floating Production Storage and Offloading. These are vessels that form an integral part of oil and gas extraction and refinement. They act as mobile offshore storage facilities for oil and gas. The vessels contain processing equipment for separation, storage and offloading of oil and gas from sub-sea oil wells and platforms. In terms of design, most FPSOs are in the form of super-tankers. Besides oil and gas processing equipment, FPSOs can have accommodation facilities for staff during long periods at sea.
